Dance Studio Owners

So, let’s talk about the 3-keys to developing and identifying a powerful culture.

You may be wondering, where do I start?

Dance Studio Owners Must Look – Listen – Learn

So, let’s take Look

Look at your faculty and staff. Do you have the right people in place? Look at your surroundings inside and outside your building. Is it inviting? Do you feel comfortable once in the building? Does the outside appear welcoming? When you walk inside does it smell good? It’s amazing what a bunch of flowers with a delicious scent can do to a person! As always optics are important, take a walk around your business and look carefully at everything to see if there is anything that needs fixing or could look better.

Listen to your staff and faculty!

You will be able to gather so much valuable information, both negative and positive. Be willing to discuss all input, this will give your team confidence to come up with ideas that you may not have thought of. Don’t be afraid to make a mistake and admit it. None of us are perfect and it will give your team a better sense of camaraderie.

Listen to your clients, we do send surveys out to find out what they like or dislike about our business and what they would like to add or subtract. Then try to make it happen! I have also found that having casual conversations with staff, faculty and parents goes a long way. Remember, it’s not always the big changes that make the difference, sometimes it is something that you may have thought is insignificant that makes the biggest impact! The main thing is, people like to feel valued and invested in what your business has to offer. Two things that I know make a huge impact are a smile and a thank you!

Keep in mind that any time a customer’s speak that is a wonderful opportunity for us to gather valuable information.

Which brings us to the learn. The third item here is a by- product of the first two. Gathering data and information will help you understand what your business culture is and how you can enhance and grow. Or fix and readjust if needed. You can also use this information to attract more of the customers who are best suited and who will appreciate your business culture.

Once you have learned what your culture is now you need to make a plan. Everyone nowadays wants to plan everything ahead. People are very programmed with their holidays, competitions, performances, summer camps etc. It is so important for you to always be ahead of the game so that everyone connected with your business is well informed, this also is a big help from a financial standpoint as it helps you to regulate your cash flow throughout the year. Mapping out what is important to you and letting everyone know what is coming up ahead, whatever event that it is will help you achieve the success you are looking for and create a positive environment and culture.

Mapping things out will tell your customers and staff that your business culture is organized. Now we all know some days will be consumed with having to put out fires and other distractions but an overall weekly and monthly plan will give you clarity and reduce your stress.

Making a plan will actually set you free!

Any plans can change but as long as we have the framework, we can adapt to whatever the situation is.

That’s one quality that is indispensable for any business owner, to be adaptable!

Yes, the marines have a great mantra that I like to use in business as well and it is:
