The Dance Studio Owner Delema – The Art of Delegating!

And that’s a BIG key. Letting go I know it’s sometimes so hard to do, but you have to let go in order to let others move forward.

Delegating is so important, you can’t and shouldn’t do it all alone! To build a business that will also serve you and run without you, you need to not only delegate but you must be willing to let go of the steering wheel. Let others show you the way. It’s OK not to know everything.

Socrates the famous philosopher wrote, "The more I know, the more I realize I know nothing." And I quote him because that mindset will always keep you in learning mode. And if we believe we can learn that is a powerful cultural mindset. This way you will be open to growing, expanding and eager for new and different ideas. And that’s why we need to take our hands off the wheel.

You may have heard of Autonomous Cars. These are self-driving cars that will need no one to actually hold a steering wheel or press a foot down on an accelerator.  That is where we need and want to get our businesses. To make them autonomous businesses. Where it can run and be effective if, God forbid, anything should happen to you. And here is the reality Ladies and Gentleman, you have put in the work. Now it is time for your hard work to work for YOU…

It’s all about finding ways to empower your team.

Here is something to think about regarding your team.

Happy Staff = Happy Customers

Sir Richard Branson the owner of Virgin Airlines say’s “Customers do not come first. Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the customers.”. He believes that if his employees are happy that will splash up onto his customers. He wants his team to be amazing ambassadors for his company. He wants everyone involved with his organization to be so invested in what they are doing that they take pride and be very protective of where they work.

At our studio we have a great team in place and we empower them to help us to get to where we want to go. We let them drive, basically we just provide the GPS guidance. How do we get them to that point? It takes time to build that kind of trust that you need to leave someone in charge of your business, you can do it in gradual steps until your staff feel confident. In some ways it is like teaching a child to run, you have to start with baby steps and then eventually graduate to walking and then running. If you give your staff the right help to make them, feel confident and then they will eventually be able to do whatever is needed.

To maintain a powerful business culture, we recommend that you Don’t fight it, go with the flow. Swimming upstream or against a rip tide, it is not recommended but we see business owners who seem to do it all the time. Now I am not saying that you should abandon your beliefs and principals but we all must realize that the winds of change are coming. Heck it is most probably happening right now in your business like it or not. So, the question here is, how do we effectively use change to enhance and continue to develop our powerful business cultures. Because your business culture should and must always be evolving. It’s not set it and forget it.

Our business operations at the front desk have changed dramatically since we started 37 years ago, we could have fought it and in some ways, we did but the ability to be able to adapt and accept new ways that are going to make your business stronger is a talent in itself. There are battles to be fought and battles to let go of.

The great Napoleon Hill said “Through every adversity lies equal or greater opportunity”

That is the mindset we must have when we are looking at a business issue we are facing.
