Michael Garber born in Waynesburg, PA, received his early dance training at his family’s dance studio in Morgantown, WV. After graduating from High School, Michael worked for Holland America Cruise Lines as a dancer. Michael moved to New York City to study at Broadway Dance Center in the Intern Afilliate Program where he studied Jazz, Hip-Hop, Theater Dance, Ballet, and Contemporary Dance with teachers such as Frank Hatchett, Sheila Barker, Brice Mousset, Wes Veldink, Kat Wildish and more.He was a member of the Steps Repertory Ensemble for two years where he trainedunder Jana Hicks, Max Stone, Marijke Eliasburg, Julie Bour, and various other teachers. While on the Ensemble he learned and performed the repertoire of Sean Curran, Nathan Trice, Louis Falco, Andrea Miller, and more. He was a member of NY2Dance, performing “Wall Stories” in NYC, Washington DC, and Mexico City.
Michael studied Modern Dance at the University of Utah. During his time there he studied Dance Kinesiology, Dance History, Dance and Interactive Technology and Media Improvisation, Composition, and Modern Dance Technique. He received various awards and scholarships for his dedication to Arts and Modern Dance. He was a member of the Performing Dance Company and performed the works of Pamela Handman-Geber, Shaun Boyle, and guest choreographer Andrea Miller. While in Utah, he was awarded Artist in Residence at SugarSpace where he choreographed a new work called “One”.
Michael was an adjunct professor for West Virginia Wesleyan’s Theater and Dance Department. He has been a guest choreographer/instructor for West Virginia Wesleyan, West Virginia University, and ArtEZ(Netherlands), and STEG Performing Arts High School(Sweden). Michael was Artistic Director/Owner of Inner Rhythm Dance Studio for 2 years. The studio provided dance education, performances, yoga, and community activities.
